Portuguese (Português)

Courses Information

The Portuguese language is classed as one of the Romance languages and is derived from the medieval language spoken in the Spanish province of Galicia. It currently has more than 272 million speakers around the world, with the vast majority of them living in Brazil. It is also spoken in some African countries, as well as countries in the South-East of Asia. This prevalence makes it the fifth most common language found around the world today.

It also has co-official language status in Macau (China), Equatorial Guinea and East Timor. As the result of expansion during colonial times, Portuguese speakers are also found in Goa, Daman, and Diu in India, and in Malacca in Malaysia,

There has been a huge demand for Portuguese knowing professionals for assignments in Portugal, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Angola, São Tomé & Príncipe.

Portuguese language proficiency is certified by the Portuguese as a Foreign Language Assessment Centre (CAPLE),
